What is Ambergris?

Described as one of the world's strangest natural occurrences.Ambergris has often been reffered to as the treasue of the sea, produced by the mighty Sperm Whale.

Ambergris is usually heavier than water, however at some point in it’s journey it surfaces to the top and bobs around.

Sunlight, salt water, air, humidity and temperature all contribute towards in it's making, oxidized over many years.

Waves wash it ashore - sometimes a piece could travel thousands of miles before being beached.

A beachcomber uses dogs to help locate it on a beach, dogs identify by it's scent.

It is extremely rare to find Ambergris!

It is then exported to wholesale buyers/ traders from the country of origin.

Ambergris is subsequently sold by traders to Perfumers, Alternative medicine makers like Ayurveda, Unani etc

Oil is extracted from Ambergris and macerated in food grade alcohol. This process could take 6 months.

The mixture is then applied to fragrance proportionately and forms Perfume.

Perfume is later bottled and sold to the end user. Now isn’t that quite the journey!
